LOOKS AWSOME!
Best looking cast I ever saw...maybe it's gonna be better then the first!

You're joking, right?
Top Billed Star Original: Gene Hackman
Tob Billed Star Mini: Guttenburg
Come on.
Also... the character names...
Captain Gallico? I assume that this is in honor of the book's author. (Wasn't Leslie Neilson's character Captain Harris?)
And C.Thomas Howell as a Dr.Ballard? Sorry.. TITANIC flash back... an under sea exploration to the wreck of the Poseidon by "Dr.Ballard" (any relation to Dr.Robert Ballard?).
I'm going to take Glen Beck's sage advice on this one... going to wrap my head in duct tape, so that when my head explodes, I'll at least have all of the pieces.
This will probably be a huge stinker! I, like the other guy posted here, hates remakes! The original had charismatic actors, camp dialogue and state of the art special effects for the era.
This one will probably suck big time. Originality is dead!
guess what? it's not gonna suck. I'm in south africa watching the film being shot. the sets are magnificent, the stunts are amazing, and the effects are going to be awesome. Aside from the US cast that is being lambasted by the posters on this thread, the rest of the actors are top notch british performers with a fine assortment of south africans rounding out the smaller roles. Among the UK cast is veteran stage actress Sylvia Syms playing the Belle Rosen role. And they are all doing great work. Rutger Hauer, Bryan Brown, Guttenberg and Howell are perfectly cast and are turning in great performances.
So back off, you have no idea what you are talking about.
Any film with Rutger Hauer in it gets my vote. But the rest of the cast looks good, too. I am looking forward to seeing Rutger and Howell working together again.
shareTitanic 1996 TV Movie had Catherine Zeta Jones, Peter Gallagher, George C Scott and that sucked ASS. Titanic was released one year later and i ruled. the same things going to happen here. I hope they dont turn this into A SOAP OPERA like TV FLICK.
Licking an electrical outlet will not turn you into a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.
Glad to hear you like it! I'm really looking forward to seeing it. One of my favorite actors, Adam Baldwin is it! When will it be released?
shareAnd a TV mini series at that? I can only guess that some lame brain thought: "Gee, the original Poseidon Adventure sure was a killer of a disaster movie but it wasn't at all like the book. Let's make another version truer to the book!" Well, I read the book when I was a teenager and I was obsessed with this grandaddy of all 70s disaster flicks. Guess what? The book is one big f-ing BORE! It's dull, dull, dull. There are a lot of other survivors in the book milling around and whining and complaining. The 70s movie was an IMPROVEMENT on the book! It focussed on a small group of survivors and gave them suspenseful scenes and made us all wonder "Who's gonna make it to the end?" Plus it was campy as all heck with lots of hammy acting from veteran actors. who the hell are all these people in this version? Apart from Hauer, Weller, Syms and Guttenberg (I thought he threw in the towel decades ago) I don't recognize any of these actors. And Adam Baldwin doing the Ernest Borgnine role? That's a clue right there that this will bite the big one, gang. I am so fed up with this remake mania. Someone stop the madness!
shareI loved the original movie . One of the most enjoyable, moving and downright scary films ever made.
And guess what, I LOVE Steve Guttenberg . Good on him !!! Hope this film is a massive success.
This puts the nail in the theological coffin: THERE IS NO GOD.
Actually, the original Poseiden Adventure was chockfull of schlocky 70's-style camp disaster and from the looks of the assembled cast, so is this one (unintentionally I think). It looks like the casting director dredged the bottom of the chum bucket to find 'actors' who were unfit to even clean toilets on The Love Boat. I'll probably have to watch a few minutes just to satisfy my curiosity, but I think they should've let this storyline lie at the bottom of the ocean.

Most of the actors are actors who dont get work anymore. I have to say I disappointed. As one of my all time favorite movies and one of the better disaster movies I think they could have done better with the casting.
shareHonestly I'm not familiar with the story, or characters for that matter...but Adam Baldwin gets a vote of confidence from me regardless, he's a good actor.
shareThis awful director is really remaking his own grade Z direct to DVD flick called DEEP WATER (aka intrepid). This is not the Poseidon story at all.. That movie was univiersallypanned and had a terrible terrorist plot about a bomb being set off and capsizing a ship. the effects were lousy and it was critisized as being a blatant POSEIDON rip off. Poseidon was a best seeling book and the point of the story was about people overcoming a natural disaster. A freak tidal wave is what is supposed to capsize the ship. Is stupid that terrorist are brought into the mix. it makes it an entirely different genre and one that did not work in this directors own previous terrible film or the awfule "Speed 2". How did this ever get the greenlight? Whether you like this particular cast or not, the story revamp is as dumb as the planned revamping of the classic Warner borthers cartoon characters. They also will no longer resemble their classic appearance soon.
