I thought he was making it for the big screen....or did it suck so bad that he pulled it....wouldn't surprise me.

There are two remakes (*group of unenthusiastic fans*: yay.); this one which is the NBC miniseries (produced by the family-orientated people at Hallmark who should have probably stuck with the whole card thing) and the Wolfgang Pieterson film (big budget, 'fading' stars etc.) set to be released next year.
