Got my Thanksgiving Day Turkey early this year

This movie was awful, and I have a high tolerance for crap. I was 11 when the Poseidon Adventure was released in theaters, and I remember one rainy afternoon of sitting through the movie 3 times (you used to be able to do that, once upon a time, now they clear theaters out after a showing).

The TV version was unrecognizable from the original. I don't know why they didn't just make their own story - don't attach this tripe to a loved cult classic. New characters added, some characters dropped, it was terrible. The worst part was the whole Steve Guttenberg story line. Now, granted, this guy has been taking his lumps in the today's pop culture (endless jokes at his expense on the Simpsons, in Entertainment Weekly, etc.), but what a ridiculous character. And the speeches he was making to his family at the end - yeeeshh! I'd be like, "OK, Dad, now we have to move! Ship's sinking. Let's GO!"

Oh brother.
