There's no f_cking way they could have used the internet! The ship uses satelites for communication and the satelite dishs are on the f_cking roof; which are now pointing toward the ocean floor, NOT the sky! Even the ships radio wouldn't work as it's antennae are underwater!
Actually the ships radios weren't working because one of the terrorists, after killing 3 crew members, turned off all the communication devices. As for the email, you got me on that one.. lol
Ok, you've got to understand, wireless doesn't mean you can use it anywhere where there is no wire. And satellite doesn't mean you can use it anywhere there is a satellite. We need stuff can talk to Satellite. (In this case, Wireless transmission does not exist because there's no radio towers that provide the signal to a cruise ship. Satellite is the only means of communication with it, for passengers anyway.) On a cruise ship that's the half ball thing normally mounted on the deck of the ship. When the ship capsized, the half ball is submerged, for one (and water is very poor conductor for high frequency radio waves), and the other is that it's upside down, so it's not pointing up towards the satellites. It's just impossible for the signal to reach the satellite and back. There would have been no way for her to send that email.
Well, it's not likely it's even needed for her to send that message anyway. To prove there are still survivors? I would have sent a rescue team in anyways, just because there're 2500 people on the ship and some people's gotta be able to make it out there. I think it's just a plot point to show that "this is 2005, and we are up to date with technology!"
BTW, what do you do when you receive an email like that? Who are you supposed to call? 911?
