I was having fun!

As a fan of the original 1972 version (and even it's sequel) I found The Poseidon Adventure fun! I was pointing out all the characters that had been slightly altered, like Bishop Schmitt from Reverend Scott, and Mike Rogo from...well Mike Rogo. I thought the new, more assertive, Belle Rosen was awesome. She was portrayed in a way you felt really bad for her again. I thought they were going to ruin her character but I was wrong. Nearly cried both times for Shelley Winters and the new one. What I liked was picking out certain points they had brought back in the new one like the underwater scene, the brother and sister characters, the Shelby caught up on the table, and the Bishop sacrificing himself, and of course Belle's death scene (sniff). I'm really happy they fixed the fact that chairs are not nailed to the floor! I couldn't help laughing at the original where all the chairs are nailed to the floor (which is now the roof). The tables I can see, because the boat shifts, but not chairs.

Whatever you do, please do not bring up any Titanic, hallmark version or Cameron version. I already read what happened when someone brought that up on another one of these boards, and before long, we'll all be off subject.

I never knew that about the chairs. You learn something new everday. I found this to still be a continuity error because you see the actors and extras sliding their chairs around when they get up and sit down. And you know what, no kidding about Belle! I thought maybe she would live this time, especially since she didn't have a heart attack like she did in the old one. I couldn't help think of what a flirt she was in this one. She was falling in love with the Bishop escorting him around, and she had barely met him. She was just too funny. I loved Sylvia Syms, she did an awesome protrayal.

I kept trying to figure out who Doctor Ballard was because he looked so freaking familiar, same with Mike Rogo. I was like "Who are they?!" It was driving me nuts. I knew Rutger Hauer from The Hitcher and Call of the Wild, but then it hit me that Adam Baldwin was the guy who played the step-father in Radio Flyer, which was a huge movie for me when I was 9, and then it hit me that Doctor Ballard was C. Thomas Howell, also from the Hitcher, which used to freak me out as well. For me, I know all this senseless knowledge of movie stars and past films (I could tell you the old Poseidon by heart), and even I, a kid of 15, knows all the actors and actresses from a hundred years ago (aka the 70's and 80's). I think Adam Baldwin and C. Thomas Howell are a lot hotter now that they're older.
