Hollywood is dead

I always thought that Hollywood was supposed to be this "dream factory," but lately it's become a nightmare factory. Big movie execs are scratching their heads wondering why nobody's going to the movies anymore. Well, anybody with an ounce of common sense knows that it's because most people don't want to pay seven to ten dollars per ticket to watch a remake. Are we out of ideas? Is that it? It's bad enough to spend millions of dollars to remake a classic and then insult people by releasing it theatrically with exhorbitant ticket prices and huge ad campaigns but now it seems we're hitting rock bottom by remaking a classic as a made-for-TV film. Shame on Hollywood for all this rehashed dreck they're forcing upon us. What's next? A made-for-TV remake of Star Wars? I wouldn't be surprised.

Buzz,

Yes, Hollywood is DOA.

It's all about $$$$ for past decade or more.

Bean counters run it all - not a creative mind in sight.

They know they can churn out CRAP and still make a PROFIT with foreign releases, VHS and DVDs, rentals, reruns ..... etc.

WHY take a RISK on something that's actually GOOD ? ??

That's what independent films are for. Since independent film makers work with such smaller budgets (comparatively), they have more freedom to follow an artistic vision. The acting quality tends to be higher since they tend to pick players and fill roles more by skill than looks.

I mainly look to Hollywood for popcorn movies. When I want to see stuff blown up real good.
