If someone had told me that there was a movie in production with Rutger Hauer and Peter Weller, I would have been ecstatic. But a made-for-TV remake of The Poseidon Adventure starring Steve Guttenberg? What happened to these guys? Both Hauer and Weller made names for themselves years ago by being two of the biggest cinematic badasses of their generation....how far they have fallen, indeed.
These guys have already accomplished big movie careers, perhaps they like being able to do what they want. Who knows?? What I don't understand is why you stereotype all TV movies. A made-for-TV movie isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I agree with "protofear" that a made for tv movie isnt necessarily a bad thing. But do we REALLY need another "Poseidon Adventure"? As to how far Weller and Hauer have fallen in their careers... I could watch either one of them in almost anything, but do wonder what the hell is going on with them. Peter basically started his movie career with a sequel called, "Butch and Sundance, the Early Years." Yes, I have seen it, and yes, it is awful. But, we forgive PW this, because he was just trying to break into film.. He did Robo Cop II, and it was ok.. and we thank him for not doing Robo Cop III. Making a movie for Hallmark channel isnt a bad thing, either. I watch Hallmark channel every now and then. But, it does seem that Weller's and Hauer's fans have far more of an interest in where these guys' careers go, then the actors themselves. It has been awhile since I have seen Rutger in anything. And, other than the Showtime series " Odyssey 5", Weller hasnt done much of anything either. ( He was very good in it, and I loved the show, and hate Showtime for cancelling it.) So, because I like and miss em both, I'll watch the movie.( But, it wouldnt surprise me if it never airs.)
thanks for the info, ssquillante-1. I just got an e-mail from the Hallmark channel, and they said they have NO info on the subject. So, it would seem that someone else produced it.
