In the 1972 The Poseidon Adventure the camera is never still, cleverly remibding us that we are on a ship on the ocean. Combined with good directing and excelent set design, this convinced the viewer of the reality of the situation. In the 2005 remake each shot is completely static, making it seem as if we're in an upside-down building rather than a ship capsized on recently stormy seas. Just another reason why this version is completely pathetic.
