I couldn't find any reference to The Poseidon Adventure on this site or a way to search for a specific title. Am I missing something that should be obvious?

Are you sure that this DVD release on Feb. 7 is the 2005 TV version and not a remastered version of the 1972 version?

Thanks for the information and link you posted, emlodik.

I found another link that also lists a February 7 release date for the DVD.

Actually, this horrendous film was originally slated to air on Hallmark's cable franchise as a 2 night, 4 hour mini-series. It wasn't until NBC realized that they didn't have much in the way of "November sweeps" events that they approached Hallmark about buying a 1-night, 3-hour version. I think NBC has the option of airing it one more time (Good gawd, let's hope not) before Hallmark runs it as a full mini-series.

What the hell was Hallmark and NBC thinking when they made this? They're actually going to release this crap on DVD? I'm a big fan of the original Poseidon Adventure and the TV remake is completely a step down in my book. I am hoping that Petersen's big screen remake is a blockbuster. I only feel that they're not paying enough homage to the original. Irwin Allen and Ronald Neame's movie has been too underrated through the years. One of the first 70's blockbusters before Jaws, before Star Wars. When it came out in 1972, it was totally unique and set a trend. It was the biggest grossing movie in the world for 1973 and definitely set the tone for the modern day action/adventure film. I hope you guys at Warner Bros. read this!
