Was i the only one who cried when.....(spoilers)

I found it so sad when the old lady, Rose, i think her name was, dies. It was so SAD When she confused the bishop guy for her dead husband in her final moments (she was delerious by that point). It just really made me sad i dont know, did anyone else cry when she died?

Watch the Original Film that is far more usetting when Belle Rosen dies as her husband is still alive and he has to deal with her death.

I didn't cry but I thought to that was the best scene in the movie, I didn't like the rest very much but as a rutger hauer fan I wanted to watch it all the way to the end. And I thought it was a beautiful and emotional scene as well. And Hauers top moment of the film.

I hated a lot of the acting, but I thought Sylvia Syms did a very good job with her role. Her character was utterly sympathetic, and her death scene quite moving. Even if the speeches were drawn-out and sometimes downright idiotic (i.e. Mike Rogo), hers was very sad.

The minute you start pointing fingers, somebody's going to get poked.

best scene out of an otherwise suck-a$$ movie

Sylvia Syms definitely did the best acting in the movie. Her death was the best scene, as it was the most moving. It was definitely the saddest part in the entire movie, and it seemed like her character was one of the few you actually were hoping would survive. That was the most depressing scene, though, and without it, the movie would have been lacking.

This was a sad scene, but it was much better in the original because in the orignal film Belle's husband is present and he's one of the people who comes up and has to discover that his wife is dead. That scene is a total tearjerker in the first film, but not bad here.

Yep, got a little teary eyed.

Yup. Easily the best acted scene in the movie (I know that's not saying a whole lot, but both performances here were really good). I found her confusing the bishop with Manny lovely, too. While I felt on reflection that it tried a bit too hard to be "emotional" (describing the park, etc.) in a rather soulless and two-dimensional movie, the scene really stands out as one that makes you care about what's happening on-screen.

Yes, Mrs. Rosen's death in the original is sadder, though. A well-deserved award winning role for Shelly Winters, and harder to take because Manny is alive (in the remake, it's almost a happy ending for Sylvia's Rosen, since she is "reunited" with Manny, rather than lost to him).

I agree too that Mrs. Rosen is the only character - apart from Acre and maybe Martin - that I cared enough about to want to survive. On the other hand, I knew from the start that all three WOULD die... Martin was a very obvious "red shirt" (despite seeming to be one of the smartest and bravest survivor), and both Belle and Acre are doomed by their names (for anyone who knows the original movie).

Actually, although I didn't expect them to, it might have been better if the movie makers of this version had either changed who survived (I know they did with Rutger, to a degree), or simply given everyone new names, so we wouldn't know who would survive and who wouldn't.
