LOL... the CGI was the LEAST of this film's problems. don't EVEN get me started on all the reasons this sucked as a remake.

reply

This HORRIBLE TV remake is an ABOMINATION and a slap in the face to the beloved original classic!

agreed

"I dont remember any of it. Did I see it?"

reply

Why can't anyone do a good remake to the original anyway?

I prefered John Carpenters remake of THE THING better than the original. I also enjoyed THE FLY remake. So, Its possible from my perspective.
"I dont remember any of it. Did I see it?"

reply

2 pretty good examples.. although I enjoyed both "THING" films equally. Of course I'm taking into account the periods that they were made and the level of special effects achievable during each of those periods....

The remake of the Fly was definitely better...

reply

Why make remakes of the blockbuster hit classics anyway? If it ain't broke ... don't fix it!

reply

Some of the worst CGI I've ever seen!

reply

Why do they keep naming ocean liners "Poseidon"? You'd think by now they would have figured out all they do is turn upside down...

I feel so awful, I suffer from insomnia, so I wanted to grab the original at blockbuster so I can watch it late night. So, with that preface, here I sit watching what was on the counter. I simply read the title and never thought about it. So here I sit AT FIVE EIGHTEEN A-M watching this nonsense. Learn your lesson kids, LOOK at the cover, label cast etc. I can't even return it right now, I just sit and watch like a defeated slob.

(Maybe it'll put me to sleep ;D)

cpcomedy,
Fortunately, I only borrowed it. I would of been mad that I was fooled had I paid for it, and was somewhat annoyed as it was. I loved the original, saw it at the drive back in the 70's.

At least some of the actors I saw in it are getting work, like "Jane" from "Serenity" and Steve Gutenberg, who should of stayed away from the gym, he has a massive build now but it really aged him, as lifting weights does.

Months ago I bought a multipack of adventure films. One of them was "The Poseidon Adventure." I was in a rush; I was sure it was the original.

Boy, was I wrong.

The other movies aren't too bad. Holy cow, this turkey sucks. I was so looking forward to watching this on the traditional New Year's eve!

I refuse to be outwitted by a 2-dimensional character in a cheap romantic thriller!

reply

I think I may have bought the same multipack. Three movies about disasters at sea? Of the three movies, this one, I thought, was the best. I fell asleep on the Malcolm McDowell movie called the Wake (or something). The other had Luke Perry and Dan Cortese in the Bermuda Triangle.

reply

I agree. Not to mention a sequel was made to the original. That was funny.

On top of it, why pay homage to the author. You might as well have called one of the characters Mr Allen!
