what do you think Amy Adams' character was trying to transmit when her husband ask her to give it another shot?
I still don't know if she was overly happy, which is the more logical opinion.
But I'm still not sure if she really and unconsciously wanted to have that baby: she wasn't eating properly, she was trying to lose weight (!) and also repeated she wanted her boyfriend to be as good with her as he was before the pregnancy.

she wasn't eating properly, she was trying to lose weightIf you are arguing that Ashley was making questionable decisions because unconsciously she wanted to lose the baby, then there is no way to prove or disprove that. It does not seem plausible to me.

It is clear that Johnny's behavior changed before the pregnancy, but it seems the additional pressure aggravated the situation. I believe Johnny's major problem is that he cannot afford a home of his own, and he is miserable living around his mother. Please note, he is quite happy at work.
