When Malfoy kicked Harry in the train at Hogwarts

Why didn't he just keep the cloak of invisibility? He had the chance to possess one of the deathly hallows. Seems to me it would be just like Draco to take it from Harry and use it in the service of Voldemort.

reply

He didn't know it was a deathly hallow. And he would be obliged to give it back to Harry, if he were to keep it in his possession during the school term.

Apparently there are other cloaks of invisibility, that are inferior to the Potter Hallow Cloak.

Since the Malfoys probably have everything money can buy, Draco's probably got several invisibility cloaks at home, and assumes they're better quality than Harry's.

exactly

reply

He probably figured it was just a regular cloak of invisibility

Despite what everyone else is saying here, i agree it's weird he didn't take it.

Even if he had such a cloak, which i never saw him use such a useful device, why wouldn't he wanna take it away from Harry to make his life worse?

reply

It seems that for Draco mildly humiliating Harry is more important than stripping him of an asset.
I agree with the notions posted before. There seem to be a lot of magical objects money can buy. Draco not recognising the value of this item is a testament to his arrogance.

After all, in the real world there are rumours of Bullingdon club members burning £50 notes in front of homeless people, so drawing a parallel it could be seen a demonstration of superiority, that neither Bullingdonians nor Malfoys need what pittance others would consider valuable.

reply

It was explained in the book. He covered Harry with the cloak so no one would see that he was still there and the train would take him back to London.
