is it OK that
This is one of my favorite shows? And I'm a 44 year old chic?
shareWhy wouldn't it be OK?
shareI'm pretty sure I'm not their target audience.

I'm a 54-year-old man and love the show too. You like what you like.

I'm a 50 year old woman, and I love it. So does my 48 year old boyfriend.

If it's ok for me to dig Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, it's ok for you to dig the Ventures.

If Kyary...whatever...brings you pleasure, then he/she/it/they are just fine.

You almost have to be a little older to appreciate much of the humor. Constant references to Johnny Quest, The Herculoids, etc... All those old Hannah-Barbara sci-fi cartoons from the Late 60's-Early 80's. If you weren't raised on them, you probably won't get a lot of references.
share"Jonny Quest" seems to be the main point of parody. The fact that H.E.L.P.E.R. has been turned into a walking eye right out of the opening credits of "JQ" is evident. We've seen Jonny (here called "Action Jonny"), Haji, and Race on the show. In the early "VB" opening credits, they even do a spoof of the credit scene of "JQ" where everyone is in the jet.

If you grew up watching Johnny Quest, Scooby doo, bond movies, and everything else they parody - then no. It is not sad at all. ...then again a guy with the Guild logo and a Monarch tattoo might be bias...

FYI Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is a she. Not sure about her dancers. What impresses me most about the girl is that she is a world wide success, despite her affliction. For, as you can see,she is what we once called "pigeon-toed".

I dig your opinion, and in all honesty would love to see these tattoos you speak of
shareThe initial core premise of the show was a parody of the old Johnny Quest cartoon, so that alone opens up its target audience big time. Folks in their 30s/40s are gonna be the ones familiar with much of the jokes/references at least early on.
Beyond that the show has spoofed a laundry list of things that aren't exactly considered current pop culture. The progressive rock episode from a couple seasons ago is a great example. A show using 70s prog rock for a major joke/plotline of an ep is going to be aiming to include a older target demo.
I'm 58 and my wife is 64. We love Venture Brothers.
