Episode 6x07 - A Party for Tarzan - opinions?

Okay, who else thought that, despite the lack of heavy laughs, this episode was a beautifully nuanced, layered story with so much soul to it? It felt like a series of noirish vignettes stitched together in a beautiful, poetic way. Anyone else feel like that?

Any time we learn backstory, I'm happy. They're moving ever so closer to establishing Rusty and Monarch's relationship.

In the kingdom of the blind, you're the village idiot.

I loved the whole episode. I am so happy with the direction this season is taking the show...only thing I'm disappointed with? I would love some Order of the Triad action...but, can't get everything I guess

I don't think you'll be getting any Order of the Triad this season. Doc Hammer and Jackson wanted to bring back the focus of "The Venture Bros." back to well the Venture brothers and of course Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture.

This season has primarily focused on the Venture family with Brock back in the fold and Sgt. Hatred as head of security. No side stories that are S.P.I.N.X. or O.S.I. vs. The Guild oriented, no Order of the Triad, no Col. Gathers, no Shore Leave, etc. While I do love those elements of the show, I still am enjoying season 6 immensely. The elements that made the show a hit are there, my favorite being the focus on the Monarch. Right now I'm loving the Monarch's arc this season.

Any way, solid season.

So true, this has got to be one of the best seasons in a while. Great story's, great characters and Brock is back with the Ventures again.

It had a bit of film noir feel about it. Loved all the character narrations and got a good laugh from Dr. Z's story about his sexual encounter with who he thought was Billie Jean King only to find out it was really the Blue Morhpo, and his assertion that BM, lol would do anything for Dr. Venture.

Would probably put it in my top ten episodes for the whole series, honestly. Really well crafted, and I laughed for about ten straight seconds from the epilogue. Whole season's been really solid and praiseworthy; don't think there's been a bad episode yet (and I'll include "All This and Gargantua 2" in that statement, even though it makes more sense as part of Season V).

This whole season has been nothing short of fantastic.

Preach it. They streamlined the show, which has given them better opportunity for depth. The most recent episode, I believe, was one of their top 5.

If you buy a ticket for a remake, you are the problem, not Hollywood.

I didn't think it had lack of heavy laughs at all, one of the best episodes ever. Loved all the movie reference. Anytime I want to complain how long it takes for them to do a new season, they always prove that the wait was more than worth it.

It was kind of brilliant. I was a little disappointed we didn't get a Soprano's or even better a Miller's Crossing nod out in the Pine Barrens but I would still give it an A. Also how crazy is it that the Berzerk video game thing about the 2 kids dying was true?

reply

Was that an 'American Beauty' reference near the end?

Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh.
