Ending

I haven't seen the end of the film. Who lives and who dies?

SPOILER

Everyone including our lead except for one blind soldier.

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

reply

Thank you.

To explain a bit further, the one who survives is the kid who is refered to as midget throughout the film, He goes blind whena grenade goes off in the final standoff. Afterwards, we see a shot of himm alone talking to himself in a corner of R-Point, and all of the bodies of his platoon are missing, as is their blood and weapons/radio equipment etc. Then the army arrive and say that there is one soldier remaining, who has possibly lost his mind. Then the last shot is of the blood-soatked radio equpment, with a new message coming out for Butterfly. Instead of Donkey 30, it is now Mole 3 who are calling. So the new platoon have become the missing ones.

Sounds a bit like an Alien 3-esque ending.

reply

Not really.

reply

Well it does to me - we all have our opinions.

reply

Fair enough. Out of interest, what was the similarity you saw?

reply

Alpha - One survivor in A3 (Morse) and one survivor in R Point (Midget Guy)
Bravo - Both pay a small price to survive (Morse sans a knee and Midget Guy is blind)
Charlie - A "rescue team" accompanies both survivors away from where the danger occurred
Delta - The closing shots in both films is of a short tracking sequence in which a message is played, featuring the voice of the now-dead protagonist.

reply

Ha, now that you mention it...

Had you just watched Alien 3 again recently, as it's a bit random to see the similarity like that. Mind you, there are loads of things borrowed in R-Point so I guess it's no suprise.
