Pins significant?
Anyone know why everyone was wearing pins/pendants?? Perhaps it's something from the book? I know the whale pin Lily received was her mothers, but what about everyone else?
shareThough I'm not entirely sure, I would assume from the scene in which Dakota Fanning decides to wear her mothers pin that the pins may be a sort of symbol for... I apologize for a lack of a better explanation, but: "wearing what one would like to be close to" or perhaps a symbol like a mask. The characters could be wearing pins in order to evoke something in them that is like or associated with what the pins means to them. For instance, Lily wearing her mother's pin to perhaps... connect with what she understood to be her mom's character or demeanor.
