All through the film (which I loved and will probably watch over and over, it's so good, and the commentaries, too), the Boatwright sister are wearing brooches on their everyday dresses and work clothes. What was this about? I thought it looked so cool. I've always hated brooches, but now I want to go out and get one...

I think women just wore them a lot more back then, like men wore formal hats a lot more.

And the sisters always tried to maintain their femininity even when doing hard, sometimes messy work like managing the bees and honey.

You could probably find some pretty inexpensive old-fashioned ones at thrift shops. :^D
