What a freaking
compelling and sad movie.
Full of its emotional ups and downs.
It was almost completely perfect.

I thought it was pretty good. But too many people were crying in this film. I swear, every 10 minutes someone is crying in this movie. That got really annoying after a while.
Another thing that kind of bothered me about the film is the fact that every white guy in this movie is an a$$hole and every black person in this movie is somehow enlightened. I understand Secret Life does take place in the civil rights era, I just think they went out of their way to demonize white men in this film. Other than this... the movie was pretty good. The story was actually kind of interesting but the overall approach they took when conveying the story kept it from being a truly great film. I'd give it about a 6 out of 10.

Oh it's more than okay but not 'almost completely perfect'. Compelling yes but very slow moving. I cared about the characters and liked the ending, nevertheless.
Some of the dialogue was hard to hear but that's the case with most movies these days.
If you push a point too much (like love and helping someone) it can be too much of a good thing.
The racist theater scene is strong and affecting, but the women struggling with all their problems dragged it down.
And what's with the bees? I missed the symbolism.
