So once again the guy is the bad guy!

I found this a well written, brilliantly acted film right up until the last scene with the father. After that we are led to believe that Lily leads a relatively happy life whilst her father goes back to a life without the daughter he has brought up, the wife he has lost and a future with no purpose.
The story says that he was devoted to his wife, that, when all was done, he told his daughter the truth with no other reason than because she asked him and then he is dismissed and no thought is given to what he went through and what he now has to cope with.
And the reinforcement of the idea that the only racist white people in America, at that time, were male.
