I'm more upset about (spoiler)

KILLING THE DOG at the beginning of the movie pissed me off alot. Why isnt the soundtrack listed on IMDB....who did the Hound Dog during the set up on the DVD. It was not Willie Mae Thornton...maybe Etta James? with some guy? This movie was never release in theaters around here. Better acted than most movies I have seen lately...

The credits say it was Jill Scott.

100% agree about the dog. I stopped watching after that part and cried, and I really don't want to watch anymore of this because of it.

Killing the dog seems cruel, but the dog had just eaten a chicken.

Remember, this is a period piece. Killing the dog was perfectly acceptable back then for what it did.

Plus, nobody knew about psychological damage back then. He really killed his daughter's dog with no caring for how his daughter might feel about it.

Nobody seemed to care for the dog, they made it stay outside though it obviously wanted to come in, where the "pack" was. What was the point in getting a dog then? For varmint control?
