One of the most magnificent endings ever

Spoilers

This film was actually really good Southern Goth. I think Dakota's acting was pretty incredible considering her actual age and who she was playing. It reminded me of childhood and was believable. Like so many movies/directors (Christopher Nolan I'm looking into your eyes), it could have done some editing, slash and burning, following the notion that "Less is More." I would have completely cut out the mother scene after she came to the grandmother's house, and maybe had her appear at the end to leave the idea open that she went with her mother. I would have also cut out the snake scene on the bed. Those two aspects in the film reminded me of a novella of some kind, so they worked on that level, but were a bit clunky. I think men freak out at the thought of a Dakota getting nailed at 12 years old and men tend to shy away from things they can't emotionally deal with, regardless as to why, and so therefore the director probably initially believed "this is incredible hype," but in the end it killed the film.

I think the ending is one of the most magnificent endings ever. Girl done discovered Da Blues.
