People are so overdramatic!

Don't believe the hype! The rape scene was not bad. This is a pretty good film. Lots of great symbolism.

I agree. On top of that, crap like that happened for real in the era taking place in Hounddog. I found a whole new respect for Dakota Fanning taking on a role where a rape is involved. People just make a big deal about it simply because when they see her they see CHILD actress not ADULT or older actress. It's like Mary-Kate Olsen kissing Ben Kingsley people made a big deal about that when the fact of the matter is.......both of them are adults!! People are just so damn anal.

The rape: you could see it coming from a mile away, and when it arrived, it was tamer than some TV rapes. There was no nudity, there were no pelvic thrusts/coital movements at least in the copy I viewed. As all rapes are, it was vicious, but it didn't last long enough to be sadistic or lascivious.
