GET OVER IT!!!

Okay everyone is all buggin out about the rape scene....BUT its just a MOVIE!So chill....and theres people who say that the rape scene was unnecessary and said that it didnt go with the movie..And i think it did!!When toward the ending when she said that she cant shake no more and cant sing and that black guy was tellin her "When what you love is stolen and ripped away from you..." To me he was sort of saying like people will try to bring you down and rip you away from something you love but you still have to stay strong.Cuz she's been through alot in her life and the only thing that made her happy was singing Elvis. But that was snatched away from her by being raped...and i think Dakota did a Brilliant job portraying the emotions.

I remember when it was first reported how there would be a rape scene in the film involving the young Dakota Fanning and what a *beep* storm it stirred up, and then people were saying she'd win an Oscar for the performance, and even her own mother admitted she only let her do the film so she'd have a chance at winning one - and then the movie came out, and absolutely no one gave a crap about it.
I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.

I agree. I think it was the climax of the movie. We see how messed up her life is and how she is dealing with it through the music of Elvis and then it all builds up to the ultimate for Elvis and then that ruins it. When her black friend mentioned earlier in the movie that some people will lose that spirit and quit singing, and that is what happened to her. I don't care what anyone says, I love Dakota Fanning!
