Toward the end when she's trying to sing in front of all those people and she starts out slow and then she builds up. Did anyone else want her to "find her spirit" and start belting out some blues? I was kinda sick of the Hounddog song by then and to hear something original would have held the scene stronger, I think.

Lewellen took a rock and roll song and turned it into a blues song. You didn't notice how differently it was sung? Blues is not always "belted out" as you put it. The fact that she took Hounddog -- a song that now had a deep hurtful significance to her -- and translated it into a blues number was crucial to her recovery.
