Loved this movie but I noticed it got mixed reviews when it first came out and I remember it's average rating was ~5 stars but now it is above 7. Does anyone have data on how its rating has changed over the years? Is this common for movies to jump back up over time? I always thought it was a steady decline.
shareI wasn't around imdb when this movie was first rated, but typically movie ratings go down with time. However, this movie was different. I think it is a movie that was highly criticized and misunderstood when it first came out and then later people grew to appreciate it, some began to see it as a masterpiece, and it became a cult classic. That typically doesn't happen with movies, so if the rating has increased over the years, that might be why.
The confused me a little however this is easily my favorite drama movie peroid

you are probably right...when I saw the score it was definitely closer to 5 but that probably wasn't based on the entire year...
