...there's a sh*t-ton of practical effects in this. Granted, there's CGI, as well but most of the deaths seem to have practical effects. This is surprisijg coming from a film released in 2006.

Yes they were still using a fair amount of practical effects in this one. Sadly this trend didn't continue into #4.
