I think this one is the worst of all the series This one went far too comercial for my taste Many cliches: - All the survivors were teenagers... more of the same we see in most slashers movies. And not only that, they were probably the most stupid and annoying teenagers ever, and very stereotyped - Nudity scenes... where them really necessary? With this we clearly see they only wanted to sell with this movie, and didn't care about quality Black humor?... I love the FD movies as horror franchise, but this one they tried to go the black humor mode and that wasn't why I was here for... The final scene was just too random for me... Horses? Killing a girl we didn't even know existed until that part of the movie? Everything went just way too fast for me to even bother or realize about the characters
Pretty much everything you mentioned was done as a joke/parody. The nudity was done to give the viewer a false sense of security, and to make the girls more vunerable.
My favorite Final Destination is the 4th – DEAL with it!
I thought that at least the leading actress was believable. Though I don't recall much more than that. I gave it a 5/10 (some time ago) and the 4th a 4/10 (today).
I thought the 4th was ridiculous. It had a terrible script and it used 2 lengthy premonitions. The 2nd was solely there to add more deaths without developing more characters. It was lazy. Plus it had those mini premonitions that were nothing like in the original or the other past sequels.
Remember when Devon Sawa just locked himself in a cabin in the woods, trying to avoid anything remotely dangerous? Now that was comic gold. All he had was his intuition after the first premonition, but this 4th guy had them coming to him three times a day and was still pretty clam and collected about it. Yeah right. In real life, precogs would be in mental institutions easy. Psychics are con artists and you know it because they act laid back about it. No panic in their eyes.
Though the 4th one had good special effects. I'd understand if one of the techs from it made an IMDb account and said the 4th was the best out of the series in his sig. It's cool bro. Even if you really mean that, we all have our quirks. Some people like to be crapped on and some people like crap movies, and that's cool. Do what makes you happy.
Eh, I guess to each their own. I feel like so far the best Final Destination movies have been the odd numbered ones. This one came back with some good effects and laid off the cheesier kills from the second movie like that stupid scene with the BBQ exploding and the arm falling on the plate, or that extremely lame scene that always makes me groan in movies where the person gets cut into pieces and slowly falls apart (as it never looks good in any movie). Come to think of it, the black humor so to speak entered in with the second movie but anyhow I don't understand the hate that this entry gets. The second movie tried something different with the formula but it came off as more forced and cheesy with the lone survivor coming out of "retirement" on a mission of redemption and hope (total cliche) or the mysterious man that warns them of danger (cliche left over from the first movie) and the list goes on. This movie reverted back to the formula of the first movie and gave some nods back to the original, and the end result was an enjoyable popcorn horror movie. It didn't turn out to be as horrible as the fourth movie where the budget went out the window on the stupid 3D effects and the cast of even lamer characters with no personality (I mean, I at least liked Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character a little bit).
I enjoyed the roller coaster secene of this one, alot. Maybe it's due to the fact that I often think of something horrible like that happening whenever I go on a rollercoaster <shudder> The second one, while also having IMO a great premonition scene, felt super cheesy to me. They way Kim could practically 'turn' her brain on to 'see' stuff. That was weird. And their little meeting, passing out cell phones and all that, just seemed dumb. That being said, as cheesy as they all have a tendency to be, I thouroughly enjoy the whole series. The first though, was BY FAR my favorite....and I actually haven't seen the 5th yet! Looking forward to watching on DVD...
I actually liked this one the best. I don't like it when the characters get clue premonitions after the initial premonition on how death is coming for them, so the camera was a nice touch. Aside from that, there wasn't anything that really bugged me (like the water pushing forward and receding in the first film), and I felt the "gotcha" ending at the end was the best one in the entire series (having a premonition of your horrible death, and then not being able to do anything about it? Outstanding).
The payoff for slogging through an hour of boring is never worth it.
In my opinion, I felt all of the destination movies after the sequel were unnecessary because the whole point of the second movie was to tie up all the loose ends from the first one. However, I do agree the pictures were a great idea.
- So? Almost all of the characters in the 1st were teens if you cancel out Mrs.Lewton. - I don't think I've heard someone complain about a nude scene before. - What did you want from it then? I don't see what's wrong with dark humor. It's perfect if done right, ever seen Man Bites Dog?
And what do you mean "didn't exist"? Perry is seen palling around with Amber and Julie in the beginning and throughout the tri-cenential. And true, this one is shorter than the rest (unless I'm wrong) which does give them a bit less time to get to know the characters, but just thinking about it and looking into fan theories gives you better clues.
And this being the worst? Are we still forgetting about TFD?
"I'll go,because I am Cinema!" - Ben (Man Bites Dog)
THIS is the worst? The acting in Final Destination 2, ESPECIALLY from AJ Cook, is the worst I've seen in a movie, ever. It felt like they were just reading lines and acting out emotions without any idea what 'emotion' was. The script, scenes, and characters felt just random and all thrown together, especially the script. Maybe enjoyable as something cheesy, to make fun of, or a drinking game, but not as a real movie. I think that's the only reason people like it better than the 4th, both thought of as horrible, but the 2nd is considered enjoyable in a cheesy, thoughtless way.
Forgive me for not leaping for joy, bad back, you know.
Really? Honestly, I felt that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was the best lead of the entire series... more recently evidenced by her possible Oscar nomination in Smashed. Pretty amazing actress.
I'm arguably not her biggest fan, and I think we can safely say that your exposure to her filmography does not allow you to judge her "class". If you don't think she's versatile, sure, that's acceptable. Your opinion is subjective, and I find her to be quite versatile. Do I think her recognition for Smashed possibly shed light on more of her talent than her older films, yes, I do. I would suggest you check that out before being so keen to disregard her work.
I like this movie just as I do all the other FD movies. The one thing that makes me take points away from FD3 is the ending. It was way too open ended to not have the final outcome somehow confirmed or referenced in TFD. I'm glad TFD and FD5 changed the game by killing everyone off on screen and leaving no doubts about anyone being alive or dead.
Wendy had the premonition on the subway. Since we know all FD premonitions are set in stone, for the most part, we know that Wendy and the others had no way of escaping, this time. They're on a freaking subway, not on a bus. The "crash" happened between 2 subway stations, so where was there a place Wendy and her brood could go?
By not showing the subway crash after Wendy's premonition, we know it's going to happen just as she predicted; no reason to see the exact same scenes again.
I do no harm, I keep to myself; there's nothing wrong with my state of mental health.
