I originally assumed that she died because some of the nails went into her brain and all. But after all the nails go through her head and hand, she moves a little and is clearly still alive. Why couldn't they have saved her? If she didn't die from brain damage, and they weren't bleeding enough to cause death from blood loss, why couldn't she theoretically have had the nails all removed at the hospital?
It's a possibility, though I think her death was almost instantaneous from the trauma, and she likely would have died before anyone had time to get to a phone to call for help. She was doomed from the jump, honestly.
Our songs will all be silenced, but what of it? Go on singing. -- Orson Welles
Well, when it happened, I originally thought that she died from instant brain damage, brain trauma, from the nails going through her brain. But she was alive at least for a moment after being nailed, so it wasn't that. She didn't die of blood loss either, since the nails all stayed in, so I'm not exactly sure what she died of ... it would have hurt, yeah, but not sure how it was fatal and how she theoretically couldn't have had the nails removed.
I know, I know, she was fated to die, but I am talking about living through this specific situation.
People who are injured don't always immediately die. People whose lungs are severely burned linger for a few days in the hospital, but there is nothing that can be done for them. Even if she was alive for a few moments after being impaled, it was a fatal wound and she would end up dead. The world has seen examples of people, with ONE nail in their heads, surviving. Apparently, for Erin, this was not the case. She had multiple anyhow.
Pretty sure she died from brain trauma from all of the nails. What you see afterward that you're mistaking for her being alive is called a "death twitch". Spasms and flinches, just little reactions the body sometimes does.
