Aside from a few highlights, like the score, Matthew MacFadyen's Darcy, and the costume and makeup department's admirable efforts to try to make Keira Knightly look mousy, this is a very hollowed-out version of the book.

I rewatched it today after about ten years, and I agree. So much attention to the production, art direction, set pieces. The "romance" between Elizabeth and Darcy was as interesting as watching paint dry, totally passion-less. Keira Knightley was the Taylor Swift of her day, I guess.
