Harriet!!!
Is Kepner deliberately calling the baby that, just to piss Katherine off?
(No offence to any Harriet's out there)

I hope she's just screwing with her. That's an old lady name.
shareI was hoping that too, lol but i think they're sticking with it!
shareActually old family names are making a comeback. Flower names such as Rose, Daisy, Poppy, Petal, Violet, Azalea, Iris, Lily and Hibiscus. Also Josephine (Jessica Capshaw) just named her baby daughter. Hazel, Eleanor, Beatrice and Nora. All making a comeback.
shareNot my first or even 10th choice, it does have some historical meaning besides Tubman, there was a Harriet who was biracial and rumored to be fathered by Thomas Jefferson, a few Harriet the characters
shareI would have loved for her to name the daughter "Faith" and for Jackson to be okay with that name because it's something special to April and meaningful to her and have given her sort of the right to call their daughter that. Faith or something biblical or something. But Harriet was just so, so random. Hell, I'd have been okay with them rehashing the Grey's tradition of naming babies after other members of the hospital staff.

I agree, either a name like Hope or Faith would have been nice. Maybe later they can say it's a middle name. Rather than saying something like Tubman or Harriet the spy, say it's a family name, like Norbert was. I would have liked something like Harper Faith Kepner-Avery. Or Hope, Joy or Grace
shareYep, agree! Faith, Hope and Grace - all meaningful and quite sweet!
shareI would've like something like Faith or Grace. I'm suprised they didn't go with a more biblical name like they did with April's first pregnancy. I thought she was really set on having a biblical name and that's why they named their son Samuel.
shareI think it's a very pretty name. Nothing wrong with the name Harriet. A lot of "old fashioned" names are becoming popular again.

"How do you know this?"
"That's what I do... I drink, and I know things."
I like the name Harriet.
I know people keep saying it sounds like an "old person's name", but how does that "old person" get that name? Same way she did. You gotta start as a baby with the name before you can be the "old person" with the name... ;) Anyway, I like it.

I was just about to say the same thing! A lot of 'old people' names are popular now anyway. Sophia, Abigail, Ava, Felix, Silas, etc.
sharevery true! My 9-year-old is named Abigail and she has a friend named Edith. My co-worker's son is named Elias. I know several other people who have given their children "old people" names but I'm tired and drawing blanks.

Harriet is a lovely name. Strong, feminine and literary!
To you, Baldrick, the Renaissance was just something that happened to other people, wasn't it?
There are so many classic names that are better than Harriet. It's too close to harridan. Poor child.
If they have a son next, will they name him Ozzie?
I got stuck with an old-lady name and I had it legally changed.

Old fashioned names is a growing trend. There is nothing wrong with Harriet. I think names like Sofia are becoming overused others that have been popular in recent decades sound dated now.
April doesn't like to use last names as first names and I can't see her naming her daughter after the brother that didn't live.
There's nothing wrong with it, except that it's not a pretty name.
Oh well, thankfully it's fiction.

Thank you! I didn't think she would name the baby after Samuel either. Glad I'm not alone.
