Least Favorite Character + Why?

Who is your least favorite character on Grey's? Why are they your least favorite and is there anything this character could do to redeem themselves in your eyes?

reply

Okay since I posed the question I'll answer first. I would have to say Queen Grey herself. I dislike her character arch for starters. She doesn't seem to evolve or progress in a way that has any deep significance for me personally. As the series progresses she becomes colder and crueler to those around her. In very few instances do I feel truly sorry for her unfortunate circumstances. Her character is a beacon for everything bad and it takes a toll on those around her. Her inability at times to show real compassion for those who get caught up in her never ending vicious cycle of drama and chaos makes it difficult for me to feel compassion for her. While I admit she is resilient in many circumstances it appears that her resilience has made her cold towards those who struggle through things that she deems as "nothing" compared to the struggles she has endured. Her attitude towards Christina during the time she was working on printing her portal vein on the 3D printer was nothing but malice. It was obvious that Christina's work was far more important than hers and all she could see was her own work and not the life of a baby. Her selfishness was rewarded with failure and Christina's selflessness was rewarded with a Harper Avery nomination. I could go on and go into her treatment of Derek but I feel that it's fairly self explanatory.

She has become her mother in so many ways. She acts like it's a crime for anyone else to grieve for Derek. Hello? He was Amelia's brother. She has a right to know what happened the night he died and then she gets nasty because Amelia dates the man Cristina left behind. Is he supposed to be single forever, and hope Cristina returns? And I get she was blindsided by Derek's death, and I can understand needing time away, but at the very least, she could have told her friends and family where she would be and send them an email once or twice a month to let them know she was okay. Leaving them to worry about her was really horrible. They had no idea what condition she was in. I liked her better at the beginning of the series; by this point, she should have matured and realized the world isn't all about her. The only good thing I can say about her now, is she's being far kinder to Maggie than she was Lexie in the beginning.

Wish I could like comments, because I'd give yours a ton. I always found it odd how mean she was/is to Amelia.

reply

Thank you! And she has been horrible to Amelia. Of course, Derek was pretty mean to Amelia at times. He was forever reminding her that she had a drinking/drug problem, despite her being in recovery and he couldn't stop reminding her of all her past mistakes.

reply

He was terrible to her (and it kind of blew up in his face when he tried to take her job), but he was her brother. I don't want to say he had that right, but it's different when it's someone you grew up with because you know there's real love there. With Meredith, she treats Amelia like some kind of lepper, like it's her fault Derek's dead, which is just crazy.

She's nice to the people she thinks of as 'hers', Meredith, but to everyone else she's kind of a tool.

 Peace is with Jesus

reply

Agree. She is a very immature and controlling person.

I do NOT like Jo! I did when she first started but over time, I have found her more annoying! I think Alex deserves better!

reply

Alex deserves to be in jail for beating up that intern guy.

Hahn, I'm rewatching the series (again), and I'm in the 4th season where she starts working for Seattle Grace. And she is awful, such a horrible person. I can't remember if I've disliked anyone in the later episodes (I'm a Jo fan...don't get the hate for her).

reply

Who are you talking about? You said the 4th season when she starts working at SG. Are you talking about Hahn? Shes the only female (and not even on anymore. Was only in 25 episodes) that started in season 4 I think.

reply

Yes, Hahn, I said that in my post...it was the first thing I typed.

I could not stand Izzie. First, she falls in love with a patient (Denny) after knowing him for what, 5 minutes? Commits a crime by cutting his LVAD wire so he could get a heart, jeopardizing the hospital's status with UNOS.

Then she constantly denigrates Callie to George instead of supporting her friend. She then tells George she is in love with him (Ha!) so he divorces Callie. Then it seems like she hooks up with Karev after Geogre finally does leave Callie. Then screws over Karev by leaving him with her medical bills.

She was extremely selfish and very irritating IMO.

Derek.

He just didn't have much of a personality. He seemed pretty boring for the most part. Example, they had a party at his house when he was chief and he's off in the other room showing plans for his new house instead of having fun at his own party.

April. I can't stand the way she is played by the actress. She may be a lovely person in real life, but I find her so over the top and all over the place all the time. Horrible things have happened to her and I just don't care. But come to think of it, maybe my post doesn't qualify since it is not actually the character I dislike.

reply

JO! (And its nothing to do with Alex, as I know many people don't like her bevause they want him to find a "nice, stable" girl to settle down with.)

it's just that they try to make her this really complex character with this huge backstory that she had to struggle through but it just always falls flat to me. Maybe this new storyline for her and season 13 will change my opinion but... I'm not expecting much.

Tie between Alex and Meredith. They should get married as they deserve each other.

Maggie is grating me most. She's always whining. You're in your late 30s, shut UP. Stop crying like a kid who doesn't get a cotton candy at the fair. Everything upsets her and offends her and everything is a personal slight.

I hope she dies next.
