A theory on Mer not telling Maggie
Now, this isn't trying to justify Meredith at all. I think she is being a total moron for not just coming clean to Maggie especially when Maggie has pushed several times for her to be open and honest. It's frustrating and I'm sick of it. But I think I can kind of see why she might be so insistent on not telling.
She doesn't want to tell Maggie she likes Riggs because she doesn't know herself.
She feels something for him, but she's not entirely sure and she could be scared (Mer's way of dealing with fear/trauma/etc. is usually to hide it behind a very hard, very cold surface) of having a new romance after having lost Derek. So Riggs might be a source of a lot of conflicting emotions for her that she doesn't want to deal with so she's pushing them down and down and down and not wanting to talk about them. And telling Maggie would mean admitting to herself and to someone else that she does have feelings for Riggs. When it comes to Riggs himself, she's pretty hot and cold towards him and this makes me think also that she just is having a lot of conflict going on.
But at the same time, leaving Maggie dangling in this purgatory area and not sure why Riggs said no, etc. is kind of cruel and she needs to get her *beep* together. But I do hope they elaborate on this and make this the reason behind her actions and not just leave her behavior unexplained. Because without some sort of explanation, she's kind of just coming off as sort of a bitch.
