The hospital will be charged in court

also for Alex's assault. It will come out that there have been frequent punching matches in their hospital and the promote a culture of violence without any repercussions for the offenders.

The hospital is not responsible for what Alex does off hospital grounds. Yes there have been some fights in the hospital, but even if they disciplined him, or even fired him, they cant control what he does when he is not at the hospital. Besides there have been many Dr that have created violence there and remain unpunished or at least got admonished for it.(Derek, Mark, Owen, Jackson)Unless someone filed a complaint, there was probably nothing they could do anyway.
Hospital
1. Alex and George-George started the fight and no one cared
2. Alex & Aaron, Aaron went after him verbally attacking him about what others said & what he perceived to Alex leaving his Cancer wife. Not that Alex is blameless, but Aaron egged him on.
3. The father of that one patient, yes, he should have been disciplined for that.
4. Shane, Shane tried to apologize and Alex told him to walk away, Shane didn't and kept on talking, Alex beat on him, but no complaints were filed.

Off hospital grounds
1. The fist a cuffs the Chief oversaw with George & Alex on the camping trip
2. Jackson initiated the fight regarding the April thing
3. DeLucca, that was over the line and depending on how they handle it, Alex could claim he thought Jo was being attacked even though that was not the case.

It's like trying to blame the first bartender for serving some guy some drinks, but then the guy appears to be find goes to another bar and continues drinking and that bartender does nothing and then the guy gets in his car and kills someone. The last bartender should be the only one to responsible.

Derek and Mark beat each other up. Neither ended up having to fight for their life through a touch and go surgery afterwards and/or ended up with potentially career ending injuries.

Alex viciously beat an unarmed, non violent man near death out of pure jealousy. A man who didn't even get the chance to defend himself and who did nothing to deserve it, except for Alex's drunken imagination.

Big difference!

Alex should loose his license because he obviously violated the first and biggest rule: Do No Harm! There was nothing indicating that Jo was attacked. She even begged him to stop, multiple times.
He didn't care.

regardless...the hospital is NOT liable for alex's actions if he is not working for them during the time of the incident. he was off duty and drunk, as you mentioned. the courts also look at that when they charge someone.

Was it established that he was drunk? Considering he was practicing medicine just after that would create a new problem for him on top of everything

Nope. Would be one dumb lawyer to go after a hospital for that. Nothing was done on hospital grounds. The hospital cannot be held responsible.

There are frequent punching matches in every hospital, ask security. Most of the time not between staff, but this is a TV show and not real life.

Incidents with no connection to each other will be impossible to prove in court that there is any 'culture of violence' in the hospital. Even if you can connect some, you can't strongly connect them all.

The only way the hospital would be held liable would be if this all came out and then there was another altercation IN the hospital. Then Deluca could say that the hospital failed to protect him from his assailant and he would have a case.
