Pure

Alright I've been agonizing over this movie for months to try to figure out my favorite thing about this movie, and i think its this:
Gabe's love is pure.
In movies, you see 15/16 year olds losing their virginity nowadays because its cool, and you see trashy 20 year olds hooking up with other trashy people, to have hot, dirty, rough sex and then never talk again.
This movie reminds me that there is hope for humanity, that pure, sweet, honest love is still honest. Because Gabe didn't really know about sex or cheating, all he cared about was her. His love was pure, not fogged by the pressures of society and what the media is throwing at us.

Hey I can be a jerk to people I haven't slept with. I am that good.

I completley agree.

Bad statistics... Very very few people are thinking the way we think... And they are becoming fewer and fewer...

I agree with you. He really loved her a lot.

Did I invite you to my barbecue?
No
Then why you all up in my grill?

I agree - the movie presents love as being so far removed from the distorted image of love we often see. Doesn't honest love exist anymore in the world? Relationships are depicted in such a grotesque light in popular culture. There is an overemphasis on sex and an underemphasis on people having a real connection. It is sad that people have to have ulterior motives in love, want to use others, etc. It is all made to seem vapid and meaningless.

I am young myself so maybe I am still naive in all this myself, but it is a bit worrying for any of us to be expected to find "the one" in this kind of weird societal circumstances.

Anyway, I just found Gabe's innocense so refreshing!
