What is the point or appeal of this game?

From someone who likes FPS games, this is one I've avoided completely, because it's all open-world crap, which I've never tried. I just don't see the appeal of running around or driving around a lot of jungle islands and shooting what looks like terrorists. I'd rather play games like Half-Life or Doom 3, to be honest.

So why are these honoured so much? I just do not see the appeal.

You piss and moan about something you have never tried? why bother trying to convince you it's a great game along with all of the sequels. Doom 3 blows imo..

Doom 3 visually rocks to this day, not even Far Cry can touch it.
