Acting skills

Does anyone else think Patricia Arquette's acting skills go out the window when she is pretending to be upset or angry? Her acting actually makes me laugh when she is showing those emotions and it frequently happens with her crying too. I think she's great normally, but when she is yelling or acting crazy, it's just totally not believeable.

Haha, that is exactly what I was going to post...

I can't watch her when she is angry and yelling... Its so bad...

But the episode season 3 ep 19 - No One To Watch Over Me

She and Joe are sitting at the table as themselves not the characters and explain whats happened previously because of some recent real disaster they wanted to avoid shows gun shootings..

It wasn't acting you could see the real Patricia and she seems like a really nice woman...

Yes, you have a point about the crying.

Has anybody else noticed that the camera handling is atrocious?
It is always moving up and down or left to right.
Do they do this on purpose? Sometimes on long shots the camera moves too much imo.
I think they should have invested in a decent tripod, considering how many episodes they made.

Regarding the camera movement: it's done on purpose. Supposedly, it lends a sense of anxiousness to the scene. It's a filming trick that became very popular around the time the show was made so if you watch other programs, you'll see that happen also.

I find it incredibly annoying!! It doesn't add drama to a scene for me – rather, it makes me feel kind of nauseous. It's incredibly distracting and I will be happy when this particular fad is over.

I don't see it that way, meself. Well, maybe a little ott but not bad acting, she just seems to be drawing on real pain from long ago. So yeah, maybe a little disconnected from her character but still seems genuine to me.

There are only a few moments in the series where I felt that she was a little disconnected in her crying scene... Otherwise I think she did great. And like another poster stated, I feel like she's drawing on hurt from memories. I don't see anything wrong with it; I've seen much worse on the big screen, where the actor is not believable at all when crying. This is not the feeling I get with Arquette.

I believe her.
