Allison's family: only blond hair

I was wondering if the choice of blond actors for the whole family wasn't on purpose, just to "lighten" the atmosphere and the risk to more or less "frighten" (I don't find a lesser word) the wievers. I mean all these people with such insight... It can be scarry... To make things less strange they have created this all-American loving white/blond/blue cute middle class family. Just a thought...

I'm not inside the casting director's heads, but it seems like they wanted to show a genetic predisposition towards mediumship, stemming from Allison.

My guess is once they cast Patricia Arquette (and decided not to change her hair color to match the real Allison Dubois), that the kids would then have to match Patricia Arquette in hair color.

Whether any of the factors you mentioned played into their thinking regarding hair color is not something I know...but you could be right (and it sounds reasonable). Still, I suspect that they're trying to make the whole genetic link between Allison and the kids more visual through hair color...whatever that color may be.

A lot of kid's hair is light when they are little, and then darkens as they grow to adult hood. I think it's a bit unrealistic that they didn't have one kid with dark hair, because of Joe's dark hair.

I know...complaining about the hair being unrealistic on THIS show. :P

Joe's hair is light too. More of a medium brown, like Scanlon.

Dark hair is like Devalos's.

It's genetics and I believe its about the fact that all the females in the family are psychic, blondes with blue eyes. Joe has brown eyes. I'm blonde was born with blonde hair and blue eyes and many of the females in my family are mostly blondes with blue eyes. My sister was born with red hair, which fell out and came back as brown. I have a number of relatives with red hair (Scot-Irish) Both grandmothers were red heads. 🇮🇪
