Errors in consistency

I really like Medium...sort of sad that it was cancelled, even though it had a good seven year run. However, now that I'm on my second rewatch marathon on Netflix, I've noticed that it's not very consistent. There are a lot of facts that change throughout the seasons which contradict what was said in previous ones.

Just as an example, right now I'm watching the episode where Allison has to get rid of the car, and she's talking about how her dad gave it to her as a graduation present. Well, in a previous episode where the car's electronics needed an overhaul and was almost replaced, she didn't want to let it go b/c she said it was the first car she and Joe both got together.

Also, I'm not a fan of how they keep recycling actors. I think Jennifer Lawrence was used twice. And the actress that plays Lynn was a Texas Ranger in the first episode.

Still, it's a great show.

Anyone else notice little plot elements that randomly change?

Yeah i have noticed too. I could swear that Allison's madien name changes. In the first episode with her brother it is one and then second time he shows up it is different.

In the episode Lucky (2005), she mentions his last name and comments that it's not her maiden name because he's her half-brother.

What gets me is that they didn't use the same actor for the brothers final appearance and in that episode, it was almost as though he hadn't been in the military before. First episode, he was already in the military and returned home from deployment. Last episode, he was ready to enlist in order to win a battle against a spirit. By enlist, I mean as though he had never been in the military before. Maybe I misunderstood something but that's how I remember it.

I believe the brother was going to re enlist in order to get rid of that spirit.

Her brother Michael is Benoit and her maiden name was Rolen. I just assumed they had the same mother but different fathers. Allison inherited her "gift" from her mother's mother Grandma Benoit. I wasn't sure if her mother had the gift too and chose to discard what she saw. Her brother had the "gift" as well, but used it in a different matter. I always got the feeling Allison was older than Michael. It certainly is very inconsistent. Its a television show and I think the creator miss the boat on the consistency. Generally, episodic television used to have the bible of the show, the characters past, present and future to maintain the consistency, they obvious chose not to do one for Medium. The bible was given to the writers so that every character matched each other in each script. I guess they don't do this anymore or at least Glenn Gordon Caron didn't use one. But, I see this in a lot of TV shows. The show never mentioned her father or if they did I don't remember anything about him being mentioned.

Yea. When he first appears in s1 after he is dischArged from the army, she mentions that he's her half brother.

I love this show, but just noticed a HUGE mistake. In season 5 episode 3 Ariel drives to school with Joe in the passenger seat. Then in season 5 episode 5 Ariel is getting her learners permit to drive and there is a long discussion between Joe an Allison about who will be the first to take Ariel driving. Whoops!

I was just getting ready to add this to the goofs section. Then I thought I'd come here and see if anyone else noticed and/or if netflix (where I'm watching) is running them out of order. Glad someone else noticed.

Allison's maiden name is Bolen, her brother's name is Benoit. They had the same mom, but different fathers.They never mention the brother in her flashbacks to high school (not that i have seen thus far)... and her mom was man hunting in the epi where the neighbor boy stephen shot himself.

There is one epi that confused me because joe's dad talks to allison all the time.. he is dead. Then in a much later epi-- season 3 maybe... joe and his dad are talking playing golf.

Joe and his dad are playing golf in an episode where Allison is reliving her wedding weekend. Joe's dad dies soon after Ariel is born. Allison's maiden name is Rolen, and is consistent throughout the series. Her half brother Michael is played by 2 different actors, with her real life brother David playing her brother Michael in the last season. It says he re-enlists in the military to escape the spirit occupying him.
