How would you have written house ending?

I would have fixed or ignored all the legal troubles, bring Stacy as the the new dean so house would be able to do his job without much trouble and start a new internship for a new team this time only keeping 13 with him.

That way we would have gotten a sort of happy ending without the Soap opera romance, this show is better when it stays more like a dark comedy and the real drama centered on the cases not the characters.I like character development but such a depressing ending didn't fit House.

House is an anti hero sure but a cool anti hero a sort of James Bond in medicine so that ending of House sacrificing his career to see Wilson die is just bad.
You love and admire House no matter how much on an SOB he could be because like Bond had his boundaries in ethics and all was for doing the right and getting the job done.

reply

I like the idea of Stacy returning as Dean . Iiked the team of Thirteen , Park and Adams for one episode . Foreman, Chase running their own departments and consulting with House's team would be good too.

I didn't mind the ending we got, given how things were ( I was afraid I would hate it) but I prefer the minor changes and life goes on instead .

reply

I didn't mind Foreman as Dean in season eight it actually gave him more to do but longterm I would think he would want to practice medicine .

reply

I would have loved that, so you are not against of a happy ending?
I thought youbwere more into the darker and more tragic aspect of the series which is fine, bit ive always preferd the lighter moments, for example till now im happy with season 7 is not as soapy as i expected, House is still a jeanious even of h eis happy with Cuddy and i still see thier tension and banter.

Cuddy has been pushed in a good way thanks to House. Sure he has his flaws but he helped Cuddy to confront her mother and convinced her to not make her stay in that hospital the relationship is not that bad and House has made his sacrifices to apologize to Cuddy for lying.
Need to advance more but season 7 has been better than i expected, its wierd but it does hav ethe vibe of the first seasons sprinkled with a bit of romance but still not Grey's Anatomy level.

House and Cuddy have their huge flaws but i think thier relationship is good for both and has made them give in.

reply

No I am a happy ending kind of girl! Even watching a horror movie I always hope for the happy ending . I am so sappy! I appreciate the emotional range they did with characters but if it was me running the show the tone would look more like a lot of what was in seasons 1 and 2 and then 4 and 8.

I honestly would have been fine with Huddy had the not been so dark and depressing about it. I wasn't pro or anti Huddy but didn't much care for the direction they took them in.

I actually didn't think of House being so miserable until later when . I had taken a break from the show , season three it started to get dull. Then later I would watch various episodes and Wilson and sometimes Cuddy would make a big deal about it. Not to say it wasn't there but House didn't seem as miserable as they would say he was , not in every episode. Plus no one else seemed all that happy either.

I know happy endings don't always happen and the producers didn't go that route much. Many House fans often seemed against it too .

reply

Yaaay, me too and that's one of the reasons i did like the ending of the Tudors and prefer the Thomas Crown Affair remake over the Original And the more Rom Com approach McTiernan took over Jewison's sad ending.

I think Vicky and Thomas Crown deserved a chance to be happy and im glad John Mctiernan gave them thta chance 1999.

But going back to House, yes the House and Cuddy relationship needed better writing and maybe showing Cuddy sacrifice a bitt more with her relationship to House, i just can't hate her.
The chemistry between the actors is so good that makes me really love them both but i guess it would have been better if they have stayed as friends and make him happy with Stacy instead.

I will watch season 8 but im afraid of not being able to enjoy it very much since i already know i won't like the ending but the good thing whne i finish then i will just re watch the episodes i just liked more. The first Huddy episodes have been pretty cool they don't seem to lack much the writing of David Shore but ill see when i get to the end of it.

reply

The early part of season 7 had some amusing episodes . Later they had some interesting ones . But some I didn't care for at all. Some good House/ Rachel/ Wilson moments in there.Amusing.

This is how Huddy works when the writing is there in Games ( with the punk rocker)
House to Cuddy " you are a burracratic nightmare, a chronic pain in the ass and a second rate doctor at best".
Cuddy to House "am I blushing?"

Another good one for me is Cuddy sending the two female med students to follow House around and learn about patient histories . I thought that was an episode that did a good job of her on the job . They had a good verbal volley. To go in a more personal level could have worked but to be honest I think they did badly most of the romantic stuff not just House and Cuddy.

Season 8 is good( I think) I didn't care so much for the first episode but most of them worked . House meets Dr . Adams in the prison hospital, who is like Cameron in a way but more mature and less emotional. Dr Park is his only team member when he first returns. She is different and quirky ( think Velma from Scooby Doo) fans either love her or hate her. I adore her.

reply

Im right now watching Bombshell and im not liking it very much till now, maybe its because i know its the end of Huddy ?
I hate the idea of it, i loved the couple when they were happy and now after chasing her he will loose her that's depressing it took somlobg for them to be together so now she will leave him.

I would have never left House. How can anyone leave Him at his sweetest. ?
house at his nice moments is the sexiest man ever, i just love him when he is at the top of his game but at the same being nice just like he was with the photographer, the woman of Frozen, the woman stucked under the car and when he saved the guy from failure to comunicate while he was getting stacy back.

reply

Cate from Frozen is one of my favorites ever. She and House had major chemistry , even by webcam. That is the thing Hugh has chemistry with everyone . I think it's why many don't find Huddy special . There are other reasons of course but it 's a reasonable point . Cuddy is there the longest but take many of the other women into consideration and they could be seen as having that spark with him. Maybe more so as the writing and the pacing caused things to fizzle out for Huddy.

Bomshells is one odd episode . I thought maybe the writers were in something.

I think Hugh makes House much more endearing and the writers should have taken this into a account more. Maybe they did but the pushed whatever plot or agenda they had going at the moment.
I'm not sure they ever intended House be is liked as he was. Shore did as they did things with House because of Hugh and that it's Hugh that have House his soul.
Some of their ideas though would have been better left untried .

Dominika is coming up and she will return in season eight(I think one of the writers pushed to bring her back)

The House /Thirteen roadtrip is coming up soon . My favorite episode of the season . No Wilson or Cuddy in this one.

reply

Yeees, hough is one of those actors who could even have chemistry with a plant literally, he just has that special magic so it does make sense why people don't Cuddy was that special.

While the romance was so cute and loved their love scene and their sweet moments, i do think they could have just have worked as great friends with just teasing each other and flirting but never create a big deal out of it. Would have been less messy for the show to leave out the romance.

Yes im sure House is not supposed to be that likable that's part of what makes him different from any otger doctor on tv but he is so endaring that makes you love him.
I finally met Domenika and while she is funny i don't find her that important, maybe in season 8 things will change but i felt she was just added for comedic relif and piss of Cuddy for leaving House.

I got to the road trip episode and it was really good we discovered much more of thirteen and bit more of House but this he didn't open that much. It wouldn't be House if he did what i expected but i was waiting for a special Bond between House and thirteen to be created but no, it did sadden me he didn't huged her when she was reveling the real reason she went to jail for.

And then she hurt by telling him this why Cuddy dumped you.
Season 7 till now has been a roller Coaster of emotions and now wooow Masters pulled of her House number : I thought she wouldn't dare to force the surgery on the sailing girl and any other Doctor from lets say ER or Greys Anatomy would have consoled her and told her she did the right thing but House just told her she wasn't meant to be in his team.

Masters was a nice expiriment and im quite sad its over but so happy thirteen is back.
Will House ever go more candid and sweet again like he did with Kate in Frozen? Or after being dumped by Cuddy he won't ever show up his nice side again?

reply

Well Dominika will return. They get a bit closer . She will meet House's mom and a key man in House's life.

What Iike about House and Thirteen is the economy of words, it's not like with others where they need to say more when they talk to him. When she hands him the soda it's like a peace offering for snapping at him earlier. He says he will help her end it when she becomes helpless again limited words between them. I feel like they get each other more or less and don't have to say as much.

Yes I doubt House is really meant to be that likable but Hugh gives him a vulnerability and a human quality that undercuts the harsher side of him but doesn't erase so the abrasive side is still there. He's a very gray character .

reply

Its intriguing the idea of Domenika coming back and who could be that important man since his father is death or you mean his biological father?

Yes 13 and House understand each other with less words and know what they mean by just looking at each other's eyes. Its like they had a particular language between them, that's part of why he was so eager to make her comeback.

Maybe House was never supposed to be that likable but i feel like in latter seasons they made him a little more bitter and dark to the point of making such a tragic ending, the series got much darker in latter seasons.

I'm on my last episode of season 7

Wooow, i can't believe Cuddy pressed charges against House and Wilson agreed with her what a horrible way for an episode to start i can't focus on the case because of that.
so I guess i proved my point they blurred the line of the character ethics much more. Now i can only wonder what House did to make Cuddy go from love to hate.

Now im starting to hate Cuddy and Wilson again when i was starting to like him a bit better in season 6 but now h eis going bak to his preachy im better than you state and now Cuddy is following him.
Yes now i see why everyone hatted her, what could House do to make her press charges and ask for a restriction order against House?

Yes they turned the character and the series much more dark with time, but you are telling me season 8 will gte Closer to the earlier seasons.

reply

I don't want to give too much away but I love the episode when House's mom visits . We see a different side to her. She and House more alike than we first think.

I would think being around doctors all the time and most of them think most of your problems in your mind and your in pain would have that affect on a person. Not that House didn't have issues he did. I think maybe if Cate had returned to be his therapist and worked through some of his issues would have been a good way to go.
I still can't watch late season five again and watch House having a breakdown and no one seems to notice even though they are all doctors ! They are all caught up with their own stuff.

You are going through this show fast!

reply

Yeees, im going through it very fast.
Its such a great show and frustrating at the same time, at moments is cool and light snd others it gets pretty dark and makes House rock bottoms.

It's something i would have taken out of the show that many lows, with just the one with Tritter would have been more than fine, when they take the dark approach is too depressing and makes me wish i would have never started but when it lightens up, reminds me why I loved it in the first place.
Anyway starting season 8 with House in jail

reply

Well House used pretty poor judgement and pays for it. He shouldn't have done what he did . But I think he really wasn't getting his hurt and anger out and then it all came out, badly .

reply

Oh and yes it overall isn't nearly as dramatic in season 8.

reply

He payed the price for that he did but ughh again Wilson and Foreman feeling they are better than House and this time there is no Cuddy to defend him and seems like she is gone for good.

If i hatted the previous humilty projects, this is the worst, he learned the hard way with Jail he doesn't need anymore to learn humility and the worst part Foreman and Wilson enjoying it.
Are you sure this is a sort of comeback to the earlier seasons, this comeback to the hospital looks too depressing and again Wilson proves to me everytime he doesn't deserve House

reply

I didn't have any problem with Foreman . He did bring House back in his own way wants to help him . Wilson really is only a pain in Transplant but I still love the episode .

No Cuddy never returns. Lisa Edelstein quit the show after the completed season seven . David Shore said had he known she was leaving he would have done the second half of season seven differently .

reply

Yeah probably, he convinced House in a nice way to go back to do what he does best.
The only i liked about the jail stuff was the doctor at that place, she was a mixture between the earlier seasons of Cuddy and new assistant is quite funny.

Mmm, i wonder what Shore would have changed if Lisa would announced her departure earlier maybe lighten up that second half or bring back Stacy?

I really liked Stacy and House together almost as much as Huddy. Wilson i guess i made up my mind how much i dislike him, like I said he feels he is better than House.

reply

Oh he does think that way no question . He never wonders why has three ex wives for example . Wilson never really looked inward much.

Maybe Cuddy would have died? Maybe they wouldn't break up. Sela Ward didn't want to do the show even recurring .She was doing CSI New York at the time. She did return for the finale.
I always wanted to see Hugh's pal Emma Thompson appear .

Park and Adams are good additions .I like them especially Park. She and Chase end up friends and she and Taub are fun to watch .

Taub's personal life gets even more complicated .

reply

That was sooo annoying about Wilson and yesss Adams and Parks are very nice additions, i never expected House team with two women but ita a nice Twist till i get used to it and House got back half of his old office.

Thanks for your patience so much reading all my whinings and doubts, its been a long Journey that im about to finish and im excited about that. Ita been a long time since i finshed a series from season 1 till the end and the first long series i finished.

24 i started from season 4, gossip Girl skipped season 2 and three and my other two series i watched from start to finish were 4 season series max(The Tudors and the Borgias).
Its so cool and weird im finishing a long series And it was a great one with its good and bad moments, episodes and seasons and 3 diferet teams with only Foreman, House and chase comeback.

reply

There are several team changes but I don't object to those it's some of the other changes I would find brutal. Inconsistent writing for characters due to who was writing I guess. Some plots that didn't add much to the show. But different doctors on the team? Not objectionable .

reply

Imagine Broken as the series final episode, it would have been a near perfect ending.

reply

Yes many viewers felt that way too, that Broken would have been a good series finale. While I did like a lot of what came after Broken endings the series after Broken has some real advantages.

reply

First, season 7 never would've happened. When House got out of Mayfield, i'd still have him live with Wilson. Their episodes together were the highlight of season 6. I would've had cuddy be and end up with lucas. They were made for each other. She had a built in babysitter who fawned over her and she had a man she could push around.

House would've continued at PPTH with another team. The second team's fellowship was up. Maybe have Chase take over the department at that time with new fellows and House there as a consultant. If Cam and Chase were still together, then she'd be running the ER. Foreman would've joined the neurology department.

Life goes on.

But if i'm only allowed to rewrite season 8, then i'd go back to the end of 7. House would not have driven through cuddy's house. Instead, that scene back at the hospital where she keeps confronting him over stupid stuff, instead of just yelling at her for a second i would've had him unload his years of pent up frustration and anger at her right there in front of everyone.

All his anger of how she ruined his life starting with the leg surgery and everything up to the point of stringing him along in the relationship until she finally dumped him. Having him tell her how little he thinks of her as a doctor, a mother, a girlfriend, and a person.

The board would get wind of this and would have a no confidence vote to get rid of her. If they had to choose between cuddy and house, they'd keep house because he's a famous doctor and brings donations and patients into the hospital. That coupled with her embarassment of being yelled at in front of everyone would force her to resign and move away to have a new life with her husband and her baby in another city.

Wilson does not have cancer. He continues on as dept head of oncology. A new dean is hired and House starts with the same antics as before with cuddy, only this person (a man or woman) is a bit wiser and more confident and figures out a way to deal with House on different terms. Life goes on.

Eventually for a series finale, House realizes he is bored with life as a doctor at PPTH and decides to quit. Wilson has one or two very difficult cases, or something happens to make him disillusioned as well. Wilson convinces House that they will both take an extended leave of absense. They decide to go on a month's long road trip. And off they go.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

reply

I like your ending, with House quitting but in much better terms with posibility of coming back or Just leaving that hospital on top. But i wouldn't have punished Cuddy that bad, she committed many mistakes from season 5 but when i remember her good moments makes me want to forgive her.

So i would just have made House and Cuddy get their fight so they could latter become friends again but just good friends, probably let House be in love with someone else so they could go back to their earlier banter.

I told you guys, im a sucker of happy endings and A happy ending for me is having House at the top of his game as a doctor.

Probably Cuddy could have been gone but in good terms, maybe she and House finally talk and she tells him she is leaving PPTH for good but gives him the good news Stacy is single again and will be his new Dean That means someone else he flirt with while he gets his permission to his crazy procedures

So they hug to say goodbye.

Foreman and Chase have their own department with House helping them once in a while and House gets na new rule that he will have a new team each year that means letting interns to learn with him instead of the typical hospital internship. 4 medical students an have the chance to work on diagnosis each year

reply

Stacy is a constitutional lawyer. To become Dean of Medicine at a hospital like the PPTH you have to have a completed study of medicine and a license. Because the Dean decides if (s)he gives permission to crazy medical procedures, (s)he needs to have a vast amount of medical knowledge. Also because the Dean is responsible for the curriculum, which is taught at a teaching hospital and because of HIPAA regulations.

House to Wilson about Cuddy: She is not some floozy in a bar. She is the floozy I work for.

reply

Kill House. Kill all the doctors.

reply

Mmm, that's sadly a good point, its just i think that Hospital worked better with a female boss.

I feel bad for Chase now that he wants to quit, i feel like he is now in Foreman's place trying hard to be a leader but he can't. A little less obnoxious than Foreman was when he was checking on House but now he is trying to imitate House.

The diference Chase always knew House was a force to be reckoned and respected him while hecwas the leader he liked working for him and respected him Foreman was more hostile on the idea of House being his boss. I wished when left That hospital would have been for good and we wouldn't have had his insecurities shown all the time.

That way he would have worked on his terms and truly developed his own personality and leader style with a fresh team because everytime he leaded House team was rarely respected.
He was seen as a poorman's House who didn't accept he liked House style. Chase Admits he respected and admired House as a doctor he just wanted to be a leader when House wasn't with them and knew he was just a substitute who wanted one day to grow up and be like House but i never felt his resentment.
