Chemistry between House and Stacy.

I just started watching House and I'm currently at Episode 10 of Season 2.

Does anyone else dislike the whole House - Stacy arc? I feel like they have no chemistry whatsoever and the show is just forcing this to happen.

I really liked the date between Cameron and House, but they ruined it by making her sleep with Chase.

On the contrary. I thought Stacy was the perfect match for House. She had the right temperament and level of intelligence to be a good partner for him. I don't think she felt inferior to him, they treated each other as equals and had a good partnership/relationship. When i saw them together during this arc, i totally believed that they were once very much in love with each other and still were.

I liked the chemistry between House and Cameron, but i think her age (and the fact that she was his employee) made him feel uncomfortable about any romantic relationship. But he did really like her. There were several scenes when he showed a very caring side for Cameron and he respected her as a doctor.

I also loved his brief relationship with Lidia. This doesn't come until the beginning of S6. If you're not there yet i won't spoil it for you. She is a great match for him as well, and because of the circumstances of how/where they meet, she obviously accepts him for who he is with all his faults and all his flaws.

The only person who i totally disliked him with was Cuddy. Their entire relationship in the first half of the series is acrimonious. He dislikes her, he insults her, he undermines her authority, he outwardly disrespects her in front of everyone. And she dislikes him too but keeps him around because he brings lots of donations to "her" hospital and he's the only man who constantly comments on her body.

Don't know how far along you are in the series, so **spoiler below**

If there was ever a forced relationship, it's the one that eventually happens between House and Cuddy. Their whole relationship is based on a one night stand that happened 10+ yrs before the series started. There isn't even a gradual build up to it. It's just that tired old tv trope where two people fight constantly and outwardly dislike each other for years until one day they suddenly admit that they've been secretly in love with one another for 25+ years and end up in a sexual relationship. *eyeroll*

And of course it's doomed from the start. They leave each other after that first night of sex both looking like they know they made a big mistake. From there it's just a downward spiral to a positively ridiculous and unbelievable ending.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

In my opinion, from the very start of the series, i knew they were going to end up together at some point. The writing and the way he alwaya taunted her was just an obvious ploy for their potential relationship. Its kinda like the little kid crushes (hair pulling, name calling) i didnt hate cuddy and house, but when their relationship essentially became the centre of the shows attention thats when the show got boring. Lydia, i agree though was absolutely perfect for him. Cuddy and house should have ended up together in the series finale or a few episodes before(not exactly a lover of the finale we got)

I liked Lydia but for various reasons it couldn't last .

Cameron and House did have good chemistry but as falconefans points out House didn't go there for a few reasons which showed his respect for her. Even if I didn't always care for her there was an interesting dynamic

House and Cudddy had a flirty /combative relationship but when they actually when their what made them fun was replaced with a nagging Cuddy and a hopeless House with none of his wit and his keen observation were either missing or ignored.

Stacy was really the match for House she was the ideal lover/buddy for him

Cate is the second choice for me . A good match for House in terms of wit and intelligence . I liked her.

I got the feeling that something could have happened with Dominika, if the circumstances had been a little different.

The moments with Lydia were lovely, if sad.

Cameron…the age difference, and the fact that she did want to "fix" him…and she was battling her own demons at the time.

Cat…the distance was probably part of the charm for House.

Cuddy…no. While there was chemistry between the two, as people they really had nothing in common…not common interests outside of medicine. Their personalities were mutually antagonistic.

Stacy…yeah, I think they might have had the best shot together for a long-term relationship.

But in the end…I really do think his "soul-mate" was….Wilson.

reply

Cameron did have a lot of issues .

I liked Dominka too . I think they were interesting together

I do agree Wilson was basically his soulmate but Stacy was his ideal match.

I rewatched season 1 not too long ago and forgot about that Cameron date.. the whole arc was cringeworthy to me and didn´t fit into either of their characters

I thought it was an okay arc. What's her face, the actress who played Stacy is pretty but not the most talented "thespian". The one good thing this arc provided was one of my fav episodes (when she & House took the plane to the IRS (?!) ).

Personally, I hated the Chi McBride arc. (Big Black Daddy) He's a good actor, but his character was a real starts with a "c", ends with an "unt".

I think House and Stacy were perfect for each other, both were very racional people but still showed they had a heart.
Stacy was someone able to forgive and realize when she was going to far like in the episode where a patient died because Chase was distracted first she was really with House because he read her file which had private information but latter was able to put that aside and tell him she atill had feelings for him.

Their relationship was more equal with Cuddy it seems like House made for sacrifices for them to work than she did

Looking back Failure To Communicate is one of the best episodes.

reply

It is one of the best.
First Stacy trying to avoid House but latter admiting she is getting all her anger towards him because of her fight with mark and doesn't matter how hard she tries she is still not over House and invites him to stay at her hotel room.

And still she would have still invited him because she knew about his leg and wouldn't let him suffer through that. Its when they thought there was another chance for them.

reply

Stacy was concerned about his discomfort. She didn't let their issue affect how she looked after him. She was really the ultimate grown up on House.

reply

Yees she was, it's really nice how she always acted like an adult and separate a relationship and work.
I loved how Stacy finally gave herself a second chance in that trip with House and both realized they were in love with each other.

If House wouldn't have found mark on the staris and him insisting to talk. House would have stayed with Stacy but because of the guilt of making mark go through what he did after his incident he broke with Stacy again.

Stacy was pure cringe (especially her "curry speech") and so was Cuddy later on with her kid. House should've dated cutthroat bitch instead of her dating Wilson, maybe she would have lived. I miss House M.D. during the Trump era.

I dread it every rewatch, but I also didnt like Cameron's school crush on House.

Gonna go read back on the other posters but wanted to add my thoughts since I only just started watching the show again a few days ago. Definitely NOT feeling Stacy. Finding out how she overrode House's wishes with his leg surgery really rubbed me the wrong way. I was glad when House said he would never forgive her as I feel I would be the same way. Now giving her a position in the Hospital he works in was just dumb; Cuddy had to know of the conflict of interest and she should have asked him BEFORE offering her a job. I don't know how the rest of the arch goes; but I am over her and wish she would go away.

That all being said, I know how hypocritical it sounds of House to be upset knowing he does the same to other patients. They even bring it up in the show itself. But it still bothers me how she did it.

Ok, off to read other comments...
