How on earth was Hopper not nominated for an oscar for this picture? this was almost as impressive as his Hannibal Lecter performance.

As I was watching the movie I was thinking "Well I know he didn't win the Oscar, but I'm wondering if he was nominated" And wtf, he wasn't even nominated. This movie wasn't nominated for a single Oscar...that's such a shame. I usually agree with the Academy's taste, but 2005 seemed to be an off year, as most of my favorites weren't nominated for anything that year.

I keep telling everyone this is Hopkins' best film. Nobody believes it, because nobody's seen it!

He should have been nominated IMO but as to why not? I can only think a lot of the Academy voters didn't even see the movie, for some reason.
