How about the highway patrol officer who told him he was illegally parked on the highway? No sympathy for an old man who told him he just had a heart attack. His statement, "I don't care..." is illustrative and shows how uncivilized American law enforcement can be. Ugh!

Actually, Burt wanted someone to treat him as an adult and not as an old broken man. He said that at least 25 times during the movie. He wanted to compete. This is how cops would treat a young man. And Burt was clearly doing something illegal. He would have HATED to use his old age as an excuse for anything, and the cops just saw him as someone capable of doing better next time, not an old man who does not understand anything.
