Yikes. Bad movie.
They make no real effort to hide the fact that the film was shot in Vancouver, not Seattle. I really liked the "Shopper's Drug Mart" sign that almost seemed like it was included in the shot on purpose, albeit in the background of the shot. I grew up in the Seattle area, and there were only a few shots in this movie that were filmed there; I don't believe that any of those scenes involved any of the credited actors.
The film takes place in "real time", 88 minutes, yet the film is over a hundred minutes long. Even giving the plot 100 minutes instead, you can't race all over Seattle like a dozen times, enter buildings, take the elevators, receive calls, have conversations, etc., in ANYWHERE NEAR 100 minutes. Try it some time; waiting in the traffic, alone, would take far longer than the timeframe this plot is supposed to transpire within. Even Superman would have trouble doing it, but Al Pacino in a taxi? Fat chance.
Some of the acting just stunk. It is NOT an inspired effort, and the results speak for themselves. I'm not sure why anyone would say this film is under-rated, unless they have no real film standards at all, particularly when it comes to film credibility. The film could be considered entertaining, I guess, but that alone isn't worthy of any acclaim. The movie gets one star by the ratings service used by my provider. That is being quite generous, in my opinion.
Either that, or it's the best subtle comedy ever created. So subtle, in fact, that I completely missed it.
