Tideland (spoiler)

"Daddy's gonna stroll down that far subterranean shore, all littered with the flotsam of hopes and dreams. Relics of ancient times. Lonely cenotaphs. Standing along that melancholy tideland."

How can anyone not like this movie, this delivered by Bridges, made me cry three times now.

It just disturbed me too much, and I'm not even sure why. It's especially strange since if you were to describe the movie it seems like something I'd really like, and it was certainly done well. But it came very close to being something very rare for me, a movie that I'd rather not have seen.

I understand that, it is rather disturbing, deep, confusing and ultimately enlightening. It certainly does leave its mark...doesn't that define great movies or any kind of composition and art?

I wouldn't say it isn't good or boring like most do on this board. That's the part I don't get.

Absolutely, it's a powerful well made movie. I just had a really hard time with it.

I loved it, it's my favorite movie. So beautiful and haunting in all it's ugliness. It's a true masterpiece. Too bad so many morons without imagination are bashing it. It infuriates me.

Thanks Marousha, I completely agree with everything you said. I've read the book after I've seen it and I think both are severely underrated, just like most of Gilliam's work.
