The caged chickens never fail!!!!

Frankly, I am quite fed up with Hollywood depicting the means of transportation in foreign and exotic lands as the "chicken express". Seriously, what the hell is up with that! It just sickens me because many people used to ask me if there were chickens and goats on our buses back in my country. Please!!!!

Then I'll bet that you didn't find Borat funny!

Thirty years ago I took a puddle jumper from the Bahamas to Miami and there were people holding cages of chickens and baby pigs. No lie. Of course we had a wicker hamper full of stinky seashells, so we weren't much better. That was before they wouldn't let you take seashells from the ocean.

I lived in Thailand for a spell, and either walked or drove by the tin huts of people that were not as monetarily well off as I was. It didn't matter if it was my 22 story office building, or my 12 story apartment building, there were chickens in the road. When I asked, I was told that those are prized possessions. House pets, and then at sometime food for the three generational family. It's not always funny, but hunger changes chickens.

I live in Shanghai right now (Relatively downtown too!) and guess what??? There's a cart full of caged chickens and a couple of ducks thrown in for good measure right outside my window! They are so stuffed in there- wings, legs and beaks are sticking out in all directions. Oh by the way, if you're so offended by caged chickens on vehicles in movies, you may not want to take a bus in Mexico. You will find them in the overhead compartment and on the laps of every other 70-year old woman in Cuidad Juarez.

It's pretty common in the Cook Islands too.

Well... ARE there chickens and goats on your buses back in your country?
