First Narnia rip off has officially failed

Yay :)

reply

What a stupid comment. You get to go to community college. Yay.

reply

Really? So, is there a like a closet to go to Nims? Perhaps I should ask Jodie?

reply

hey I resent that. I went to community college and got a great education out of it and even I wouldn't make a stupid post like the OP without substantial evidence and sources to back up the opinion.

reply

I apologize to josh. OP is still a loser.

How is this a Narnia rip off?

reply

Hey, it failed at the box office, and nothing will change that :)

reply

And nothing will change your unremarkable life, either. You win, trashy.

reply

Clearly I win far more than this movie.

reply

But.. this movie has absolutely nothing to do with Narnia. No closets, no other worlds, no magic, no weird creatures.. have you even seen it?

reply

This crappy movie only made 32 million.

reply

I don't even like the movie, but I do like when minimum wage types start ripping on movies. You probably made 300 bucks last week. Congrats! If every movie you didn't like made zero, would your life be any better? No, you are stuck in your dead end life. Oh well.

The movie has grossed more than it cost to make. Hence it was a success. Not every movie in Hollywood has to break $100 mill to be deemed a success. Plus that is only domestic sales and we haven't even figured in DVD profits, which less face it will be huge. Family movies almost always do wonderful in DVD sales.

I won't even begin to rip apart the Narnia comparison to which you actual didn't support.

reply

It's stayed in the top 5 in the box office ever since it was released. It stayed longer than Leatherheads and Ruins which were released on the same day.

reply

Failed at the box office? It's made back its budget and then some. That, my friend, is a successful picture.

reply

does anyone have an opinion about the movie here rather than about the money?

reply

Yea how is this movie a rip off of Narnia? They are nothing alike.

I don't understand how this is a Narnia rip-off at all. It's from Walden Media, sure but so was Waterhorse and so is Journey to the Center of the Earth. If it was truly a rip off of NARNIA, there would be a talking lion named 'Laslan' and the world would be called 'Darnia' and so forth.

plus the fact that you offer no other evidence besides a stupid one word post proves that you have NO real reason to call it a 'Narnia' rip-off.

reply

actually it's held up pretty well. It's still at number 5 again this weekend and made anotehr 4.5 million! That shows that word of mouth is spreading among parents and kids and other films that were even opening above it have floundered and are beneath it. And fantasy films do good business overseas so it should more than make it's money back.

Evelyn: She's my sister and my daughter!
Jake: For reals? That is f *cked UP!

reply

It is reported to have done around $50 million world-wide already.

and it hasn't even been released in the UK yet.

why u expecting the Matrix? Narnia is a failed rip-off from LOTR anyway...

reply

Haha. Clearly you don't know the history between Narnia and LOTR. Narnia is NOT a rip-off of LOTR. Tolkien and Lewis (the authors of the two) were good friends. There was no "ripping off" going on. Please tell me how Narnia is even remotely a rip off of LOTR? Because it's a fantasy? Because they got turned into movies? Your argument lacks substance. You have provided absolutely nothing to back up your statements.

Because you're talking to an uneducated kid who doesn't understand the concept of books. Literature and research are two things that require too much competence from some people.

I believe that the film will make over $100 mil if you include the video rentals and sales that NI will generate.
Its a nice film, a safe film, one with good messages, so a no-brainer as a gift for a child or a family movie night.

Then there'll be the PPV $$, too.

BTW, I'm pleased the film is doing as well as it has.
We have Direct TV with local channels included, and I only saw TWO commercials for the film, before and after its debut.

I'm sure it would have sold more theatre seats of the studio would have spent some promotional money letting a wider audience know about it.

I agree on the limited promotion. I saw very little on this movie preceeding its debut. I'm thinking the movie makers are satisfied with the numbers so far. I also agree this will have large DVD sales. We should be seeing the DVD hit the shelves in August or September.
