rank characters by intelligence

anyone here.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to be a serious person.

Dr. Man
Ozyman
Owl
Roscharch
Comedian
Jupiter

reply

Remember that Ozy outwitted Dr. Manhattan. Does that make him smarter or just more cunning? I'd put it at this.

Dr. Man
Ozy
Rorschach
Comedian
Owl
Jupiter cause she's more stupider.

Not more intelligent, more wiser.

reply

Not more intelligent, more wiser.

You have it in reverse. Ozymandias is smarter than Manhattan. Manhattan is just wiser.

The Tachyon tactic was an example of intelligence, not wisdom. Ozy's energy bomb ruse to save the world was an example of a clear lack of wisdom. But the trickery and tactics to reach that outcome were brilliant.

Agreed.

Everyone agrees Jupiter is the dumbest, and has the best a**

That's a tough question, although I would agree that Laurie shows the least intelligence.

Dr. Manhattan is a genius, but he's also endowed with powers that none of the others are. Clearly he was very smart before the accident, but we don't get much of a glimpse into that Jon. So the answer would depend on whether you mean pre- or post-accident Jon.

The Comedian is never shown to have any exceptional book smarts, but he's the most insightful about humanity of any of them.

Rorschach is an eloquent writer, but he misses a lot of things going on around him.

Ozymandias is obviously very smart, probably the smartest. But, as another poster pointed out, is he necessarily the smartest or simply the most cunning and/or detail-oriented? I mean, just about everything he predicted that led to his master plan, the Comedian predicted as well; it's just that the Comedian didn't feel it was right to go and kill millions of people in order to divert nuclear war.

Dan is clearly very smart, being a Harvard-educated engineer who can create amazing technological devices. But, as the cliche tends to go with characters like that, he is clearly pretty clueless when it comes to just about everything else.

Laurie and her mother, sadly, both seem pretty simple. There are a ton of brilliant men in this book and zero brilliant women.
