Really well done disaster scene, and not for the reasons you suspect....

After years of disappointing corridor scenes in ST:TNG and a disappointing scene in Starship Troopers were a spaceship is torn in two, the corridor scenes and the fire coming up the passageway are really well done.

Yeah they were. I adore this film. I prefer it to the original which I believe has not aged well at all. And the effects are infinitely superior possibly obviously.

Did you notice the flaw? The passageway is upright, you can see the door as the fire comes, but then the outside shot shows the ship is on its side.

I picked it up after you mentioned it. I may have just ignored it in years past. That was some of the first passable CGI fire.
