The film didn't even need Richard Dreyfus, his character in no way had any impact on the groups survival. He had no particular skill or reason for being among those who survived. He wasn't an interesting character, he could have easily been replaced by a dog, which everyone roots for and usually helps out in some way anyway. Sorry Rich, usually love ya but not in this role, been a while.
What weirdes me out about the character is that in the original it is implied that the character had aids/hiv. The character is played by Red Buttons in the original film a scene in it has him taking medication for a muscle degenerative disorder, back when the film was made aids wasn't know of, then in the 2006 movie Richard Dreyfus plays the same character only this time he's out and out homosexual, the original film never actually acknowledge this aspect of the character. In the 2006 film the character makes no mention of the disease he has just that his husband has left him thus confirming that he is homosexual and in turn that the character in the original was also and had contacted the HIV/Aids virus which was then unknown.
Later in the 2006 movie Richard Dreyfus is on the piece of metal in the elevator saying "Hello beautiful" while making kissing gestures to the Hispanic character. I'm surprised they didn't have him cum all over the Hispanic character it was gross.
You think that bradley or anyone else needs to be wary of offending your PC, sensitive nature? You think you can jump on anyone that you dont deem to be PC? You can shove that s**t right up your ass. He has every right to be offended by something, as have you. And he has every right to say so
How much *beep* you and they spout, and its content is entirely up to you. Indeed, I never mentioned the rights of yours or his to say it, so you are actually lying about what I said.
The fact you even feel the need to defend it also indicates that subconsciously you know its the wrong thing to say. After all, if it the right attitude, you wouldn't need to defend it at all, right?
As for me being PC, or sensitive, or stiffling your right to free speech. No, not at all. You can say whatever the hell you like. Just don't cry like a whiney spoilt bitch when someone tells you you're a moron. The same goes for your boyfriend you so vehemently defend.
Be careful though, your daddy will get jealous because you're his toyboy!
I'm pretty sure that, if you cried loud enough, daddy would kiss you better and write a strong letter to IMDb, demanding that they ban someone who relentlessly bullies his baby. Probably wouldn't deny the 'special relationship' you have either.
Maybe a moderator will get involved. Maybe not. Either way, your tripe and mine will either both be taken down, or both allowed to stay up, because oddly enough, saying you love getting spit-roasted by Bradley and your dad once a day and twice on Saturday during dress up time, is no more hateful then your homophobic ranting.
i would have said Deyfus filled the role of obligatory gay character. Years ago it was obligatory black character. It's Hollywood's way of (trying) to appease everyone.
And no, I'm neither homophobic or rascist.
Richard Dreyfuss character is not in the 1972 film. He's an original character created for this movie.
In the 1972 film, Red Buttons character is not homosexual at all. He's a health nut jogging every day and taking all sorts of vitamins. During the movie he falls in love with Nonnie, Carol Lynley's character.
